Tell your stories as they should be told

Tell your (2)

As I head to beauty for ashes women’s conference in just 2 days I am reminded of the last year event in which Sheridan Voysey, the author of the book Resurrection Year; Turning Broken Dreams into New Beginnings, shared his story about the infertility journey him and his wife traveled for over 10 years.

While I am a believer of dreams and I believe the winged ones get to fly, the sad reality is not all of our dreams get to fly, some of them get broken as they fly and some never get to take off.

But Sheridan’story is the story about not giving up on yourself even when dreams get broken.

  • It is about finding courage and meaning amidst your broken dreams.
  • It is about finding newness when your dreams are broken.

Events like beauty for ashes always remind me of the power of a story, the stories that start with our struggles, the stories of how we overcame or even how we didn’t overcome but yet we learnt to live beyond our broken dreams.

My point is we all hold the power to change lives, to give people hope and to teach something when we tap into the power of our stories.

When we learn to tell our stories as they should be told we empower ourselves, we empower others in the process.

Others hear our stories and they can connect, they are given courage that what we survived they will survive too.

Our stories give others hope that people just like them have managed to find their calling and achieved greatness they never could have imagined.

Whats your story? Are you telling it, you ought to tell your stories as they should be told.
