Tearing away your limitations

There are those days when a ton of doubts can fall within your heart.

And then if you let those doubts marinate, every single day you wake up to the feeling that you are insufficient.

You start believing that

  • everybody has a right to dream except yourself,
  • everybody has the right to conquer except yourself.

Doubts can erode any sense of faith and cause you to resign yourself to a life dictated by limitations.

It is important to remember though that limitations can be broken.

Limitations have no part in the lives of men and women who want to build the lives of their dreams.

You have to find ways around them, kick box them, step over them if you have to until you conquer them.

Time to tear your limitations
Time to tear your limitations

Talking of which; Roger Bannister’story is a reminder that limitations can be overcome.

For many years experts believed that not only was it dangerous but it was impossible to break the 4 minute mile barrier.

Many dedicated themselves to being the first to cross into the 3 minutes zone and they failed.

After intensive training and research, Roger Bannister became the first person to break the 4 minute mile barrier.

Roger researched hard to understand the science behind running, he trained hard and refused to be held back by limitations.

The story of Roger reminds us that

  • your best effort will be required if you are going to break your limitations, you will not be the first to go to college without your best efforts. You will not build a business that thrives where others failed to thrive without your best efforts.

It isn’t the life of Roger alone that reminds us that limitations, whatever they are, can be lifted.

I don’t know about you but Easter is another story that reminds me of limitations being lifted.

Among the many things that happened during crucifixion we are told about a curtain in the temple being torn into two.

Beyond the curtain was supposed to be a place that could only be entered by a select few, the purified ones; the priests.

I can’t imagine how it must have felt to have some guy walk to the other side of the curtain while you waited with the hope that he lays your request as sufficiently as you would wish. Come to think of it, some of those guys might have been gloating thinking that they have exclusive ownership to God.

Don’t blame me for such thoughts. You and I know that is what normally happens when some people have privileges others do not have. They can become big headed or their children might think they come from a lineage of glorified genes.

So the curtain was torn apart it says, so we can all access God.

There is something that appeals to me every time I read or hear a story that talks about a regular guy being given access to things he could not access.

I am all smiles to think that regular guys were also given a chance to walk into places they couldn’t have walked into before. It is this belief that ordinary individuals (who are no angels) can also access divine options, that makes me see that the possibility of other people’s dreams where others fail to see anything.

However regular you think you are, you ought not to doubt yourself.

My thoughts this Easter go to those of you thinking

  • you don’t deserve the part of life that others deserve.
  •  that may be your life lies here and not some place beyond the curtains.

Do not let those thoughts chain you.

Be bold enough to walk into places that you were afraid to walk into

There is proof all over that human beings can break barriers they set for themselves or set by systems.

There is proof that many of us, the ones that would never make the cut, can be taken from doldrums of the ordinary to walk in divine places.

May you be bold enough to walk into places that you were afraid to walk into and stop condemning yourself to the life of limitations.

May you break free from the curtain that may exists only in your head.

Allow yourself to get your dreams done.

For the simple reason that you too can access privileges that seem to be reserved for few people and even the privileges that are deemed impossible .

We all can walk into divine places.
