Have you ever wanted something so bad, and you didn’t seem to be getting any support?
Have you ever been so close to achieving a goal?
And then you got stuck along the long the way?
May be it is money you didn’t have.
May be you didn’t have connections that could usher you to that place you dream of.
I recently came across a girl, who had an invitation to a big Summit.
She shared her story with me.
She had needed money. Stories like these get to me.
She had plans of what she will do for her community after the summit.
But she knocked at doors and could not get anyone of the doors opened.
Not one.
It is a painful place to be.
Somehow we have all been there.
I have been there too.
That place of;
if only I had resources
If only someone could notice me
If only someone could notice my work.
If only someone could sponsor my dream.
And may be that is where you are at the moment.
When you are at that place you may begin to think,
“out there are people who could support my dreams, who when they snap money falls from their fingertips, who have access to places I want to go to.”
You may find yourself praying and wishing that wealth could go to those who want to see others succeed, that more wealth should go to the ones who can support a dream.
Here are things to remember that will help you through that process
1.Just because nobody notices you, nobody hears you and nobody sees you, does not mean you are not going to make it.
Someone out there succeeded with little support and so can you.
You don’t build your dreams just because people believe in you but you must build them because in the words of Madam Curie you must believe that you are gifted for something.
2.Learn to work with no support.
Don’t expect people to support your dreams all the time.
Sometimes you will need to pull through by yourself.
In my other post I talked many people who forged ahead when everybody else had something negative to say about their dreams.
3.Accept that pursuing your dreams can be lonely.
There are times when you are going to walk alone but like someone once said dreams are given to you and not the next person.
Other people may not understand what you are so fired up about.
4.Remember that life may not reward you the way you wish.
As you hustle and suffer you become stronger.
There are gifts of strength wrapped in your struggles.
5.Keep trying someday someone will notice your attempts.
Remember before you become too good to be ignored you may need to prove yourself.
Before people ask for your endorsements they may ignore you.
The greatest mistake we often make is thinking the world owes, thinking we deserve a special spot before we put the work into.
Just put in the hard work, one day after proving yourself you will be so good it would be hard to ignore you.
6. Remember that pain is a lesson.
Take it with you, it will teach you to defend the dreams of others so when doors finally open, you don’t forget the brothers and sisters who are still in the gutter.
Someday when you remember what it felt like to be down there, beaten and ignored this will help you to reach out to those struggling with their dreams.
You wont allow someone’s dreams to die if you can help it.
7.Remember too that the wait is part of the journey.
Waiting is the hardest part of the journey. But still keep waiting but while you wait keep trying.
8.Look for people who are on the journey themselves
Someone once said the only people who will understand you are the ones on the journey themselves.
Find the ones like you, although they may not provide resources you need they will understand you.
And sometimes being understood is all that is needed.
9.Remember one day you will be an example
You will one day make someone believe they can because you did.
People like Jim Carey on his first comic stand-up he was booed off stage.
He didn’t get a standing ovation.
But today he is an example of what attaining dreams looks like.
10. Remember accomplishing dreams cannot be hurried.
We all want those shortcuts, the sensational overnights success.
We must remember though that building sustainable dreams cannot be rushed, they are no shortcuts.
Who does know J.K. Rowling one of the successful authors in UK whose book Harry Potter has sold over millions of copies.
You would think her dream book had millions of people rallying behind it at its birth.
But no, her book was rejected by 12 major publishers.
You will need to be Rowling and keep pushing even when life and everybody else says no.
As I leave you to persist against all odd, here is a quote by Ajaero Martins,
Get mocked at for as much as you can, fail as much as you can, but don’t quit. Let every mockery, every failure, be a source of inspiration for you to reach for greatness, and that greatness will silence your critics.
