Many people talk about starting something but only a few are bold enough to take the first step and here are four hindrances to starting the journey of your dreams
When you are annoyingly hung up on learning everything before you start.
You want to learn as much as possible.
You become a course junkie, every course with a promise you say “bring it on.”
Every book with a promise you read it.
While I believe in learning 100% and appreciate tremendous benefits that can only come from learning if you spend all the time learning you will never start pursuing your dreams.
It is possible that your continued learning is just a scapegoat; just your way of postponing action.
Remember what you don’t know, you will learn as you go.
When you are obsessed with perfection, perfection can delay you from serving the world.
“Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing flawlessly.” – Robert H. Schuller
What you need to remember is that masterpieces aren’t beautiful at the start, you carve them, you chop off the unwanted bits and eventually a masterpiece is made.
People don’t transition to great success because they had a faultless golden start but they do so because they started and kept moving despite the imperfections.
Ditch perfection.
Don’t ever let the need for perfection prevent you from starting.
Imperfect starts don’t always lend you at an imperfect ending.
When you compare yourself to others
“The reason why we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind the scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.” Steven Furtick
In this world we are surrounded by endless beauty
- people achieving amazing things,
- people getting incredible opportunity across the world
- amazing breakthroughs
- friends who seem to have it all figured out
You might ask yourself “where is my place in all this beauty?”
Instead of beauty inspiring you, it might shatter you, it remind you of your deficiencies.
You think of everybody else who is doing it and the many advantages they have which you don’t have.
And then you start taking the backstage because you feel less than the next person.
Remember there is a place for the beauty that can only be created by you in this world.
Your dreams aren’t given to you so you outdo the next person, there are given to you to live them and create a difference in this world.
Do not withdraw from your dreams just because you feel someone else is better than you.
When you allow your fears and past failures to do all the talking.
The voice of fear and failure can be very loud.
If you listen to those voices they will send you backstage.
Remember failures and all,you have a chance at your dreams as everyone else.
You have every right to start as everyone else.
You are just as deserving as the next person to start pursuing your dreams despite your fears and failures.
Conclusion
All too often we let many reasons hinder us from starting.
Yours may be among these or may not be mentioned.
But whatever our reasons are, no reason is worth keeping us from reaching within the depth of our souls and start what our souls long for.
Be bold and start.
