I once read a story I can’t exactly remember from which book and I can’t exactly remember all the details of the story; I was still very young.
I think it was Dr Robert Schuller’s book.
The story was about the dog and the moon.
It was about the moon that was shining and the dog barking at the moon.
But what is interesting is that the moon never stopped shining.
The point of the story is that as you shine they will always be people attempting to bawl at you, attempting to pull you down with their harsh words.
Like the moon don’t ever allow the bawling to stop you from shining.
As you pursue your passions and run after your God given dreams you won’t always get applauses.
- You will get a bit of bawling.
- You will get people condemning you for shining.
Negative words may keep you from giving a go at our dreams but don’t let them.
Your duty is to keep shining and close your ears to the naysayers.
Okay sometimes no matter how hard you close your ears you will hear them.
They will get on your nerves but still focus on shining in the dark.
Remember they may be showing negativity towards you because;
- they wish they carried the same light as you.
- they may be feeling guilty about their own failures. So they take out their own guilt on you as if you are the one stopping them from shining.
- sometimes it is just who they are, they carry the bawl whenever they go (so what are you going to do about them? huh?).
Just like the moon keep shining and give the best of yourself to the world.
When you keep shining you increase the gap between yourself and the ones bawling at you, one day you will be too high up in the sky to hear what they are on about.
Do not let them put off your light and fire.
Keep shining
It is an indication of maturity and focus.
It says you are mature enough to know some things are not worth expending your energy on.
The time you spend mopping around because of others’ negativity could be spent on more valuable things.
So go out there and keep shining.
